About the swimming spots in the Lot river

Practical informations

Whether you are on holiday or for just passing through Fumel or one of the surrounding villages, the nature and the setting will surely charm you! When the sun is at its height you might want to dive into the Lot river!

The villages of Fumel, Montayral, Condezaygues, Saint-Vite, Monsempron-Libos, Saint-Georges, Trentels go along the Lot river, but there is no converted/equipped or watched beach, few access are pointed out...

However, during you strolls and breaks, if you find an access inviting you to reach the river, you have to know that it is a swimming area called unequipped. It is a free-access area and if you swim there it is at your own risk.

Also, the water's quality protection is a priority for the Entente de la Vallée du Lot since 2008, swimming areas have to be registered by the town halls to the Agence Régionale de Santé (ARS). On those areas, the water's quality is regularly monitored during Summer.

The two monitored areas are on private sites:

  • at the Le Moulin du Périé campsite in Sauveterre-la-Lémance: the swimming area is accessible to people staying at the campsite (see our "Séjourner / Campings, Aires de camping-car & Villages vacances" section).
  • at the leisure park Parc en Ciel in Lacapelle-Biron: the swimming area is accessible but there is an admission charge (see our "Bouger / Activité nautiques / Baignade" section).

There is no other swimming area registered by the town halls of Fumel Communauté
