To 33 km from Agen and 11 km at the east of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Penne d'Agenais is a medieval fortified town between Périgord, Guyenne and Quercy. Its tempestuous history leaves a wide heritage: ramparts and city doors, fortified houses as Alaric's tower, lordly houses of the XIIIth and XVIth centuries. Craft workshops and art galleries settled down in the course of the steep alleys, giving to this village a new interest. A stroll in Penne d'Agenais ends in the sanctuary of Notre-Dame of Peyragude, place of pilgrimage towards Compostelle, raised on vestiges of the Castle of Roy.
