This immense cast iron and bronze machine, powered by steam, is the ultimate testament in its category to the great French and European industrial era of the 19th century. Arriving in Fumel in 1850 on heavily laden barges sailing up the River Lot, and then assembled on site, the Watt Machine was from the outset intended to supply hot air to the blast furnaces of the newly created metallurgical plant. In operation until the 1950s, the Watt Machine is today the only one in France still in working order (electrical energy). Its mechanism, its historical interest and its aesthetics led to its classification as a Historic Monument in 2009. A unique visit in France. Limited number of participants.
