This new tour, complementing the "Memory Hole" booklet available at the Fumel-Vallée du Lot tourist office, introduces you to the workers' housing estates of the former Fumel metallurgical plant.
As early as 1874, the first blast furnace left its mark on this agricultural plain linked to the Lot River.
The Orléans Company, then Pont-à-Mousson, quickly began offering workers' housing blocks, engineers' and foremen's houses for rent or sale.
Today, these iconic estates have been designated a 20th-Century Heritage Site; and Métal Temple Aquitaine has ceased all activity.
The guided tour evokes the daily lives of their former inhabitants by exploring the styles of the houses, the materials used for their construction, their layout, street names, and more.
